I entered the competition, but some how missed hearing this. It's so awesome hearing where you took the theme! Very awesome action/dramatic music.

Love it!
Like someone else said, it sounds a little like it could be the backing for a j-pop song. But works really nicely as an ambient track too.
Sweet production. Love the vibe when the drums first come in.
it's really weird, no matter what genre I end up doing people always always say my stuff sounds like video games or j-pop. I am cursed lol.
I must actually be a Japanese person stuck in a white person's body.
Cool atmosphere
I liked the opening. Reminded me of the opening to Akira. Very atmospheric and dark.
The sax sounded really out of place to me. With some of the notes sounding random and the overall sax sound not really fitting in. The melody around 1:50 sounds better tho.
You have some ideas in it and a nice atmosphere in parts, but the instrument sounds where a deal breaker for me.
Yeah, i'm trying to figure the best sounds to use, and there really aren't many good sounds to use in the demo, and i like the sax. I'll try using maybe a string instrument. But it's hard finding a good free VST that i like. Thanks for the review.
Out of key guitar part?
I agree with firemaker60, it's a pretty cool song. Nice, mellow and a cool laid back feel.
But that part at around 0:38 - 1:05 does sound totally out of key and horrible. Nice song, but that's a deal breaker for me.
Yes, the guitar part is horrible, but that was on purpose basically. I wanted to make the song pretty weird and awkward, but I guess that didn't work, lol.
Too random
Sounds far too random. Hard to see what you're going for.
Would be beter if it was simpler but with more of a point and beat or something
A point? The point is that I'm wearing white shoes, motherfucker! And that's all the shit you need to know.
A beat? Can't you read, n***a? 7/4 and 19/8. Until you can learn to tap your foot in polyrhythm, don't be dissin' my shit, yo.
On that note, your criticism is very much appreciated, and I will definitely maybe take your advice.
Really needs more
The sound quality and mixing could use a little work. But you've got some fun ideas.
Again, it sounds like it'd fit better within a bigger song. You could even combine the two songs you've uploaded into one and it might sounds pretty cool.
you couldn't have said it any better, in fact the two songs are part of the same song. this is actually just a snippet of a much bigger song at about 5 mins long. be looking forward to it in about 3 months!
Little Floydie
Nice. It's cool to hear some stuff that's not electronic here.
Reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd. Sounds like it'd work much better as a bridge to a bigger song though.
Let down by some of the sound quality
I'm a big fan of music that feels like it tells a story. Got a kinda nice vibe in this one. But a few things let it down for me.
The guitar could really do with being live. It sounding synthy really detracts from it. And the drums also sound like they could do with some stronger EQing. It could really do with some strong low end hits when it's built up. Make it feel more epic.
Also it feels like it would have benefited from a key change somewhere. Just to make it feel like the story has developed a bit and you're in a different place to where you started.
I think I prefer the title "lost & lonely" a bit too. It fits the vibe of the song better IMO. Makes a story jump out at me a bit more of a man searching for something.
Thanks Ockeroid, I really had nothing else I could use for the guitar, I really should get some recording stuff though. The drums were quite weak, my drum compositions have improved alot since I made this. A key change probably would be good. I'm hoping to make my next songs less repetitive and more eventful. I changed the title cos a few friends didn't like it, don't know if i'll change it back.
Kind of nice
Kind'a nice. But could do with a few more layers of stuff happening in the background. And maybe a change or two.
There's not too much to listen to as it is.
I like to keep it simple.
